   About Us

  • Russia has a centuries-old history. In order to survive, develop, and defend its interests and independence, it has been necessary for Russia to have a well-drilled populace to defend the country with. Russia had such a citizenry during WW II. They have formed the basis of the Russian armed forces throughout Russian history and their numbers have varied over time. The history of the formation and development of the Russian Army is closely bound up with the history of the Russian people. The Russian people have always been eager for knowledge of the history of their own country.
In 1994, in order to satisfy this cultural need of the people, the military-historical club,"Memory", was founded. We reorganized the club and changed its name to," Stalingrad", in 1999. The main goals of this public organization are as follows:
  • To join with other people interested in the history of the Armed Forces of Russia and other countries.
  • To provide assistance for the citizens of Russia and other countries to determine the fate of relatives who disappeared during the Second World War in the South of Russia.
  • To organize and carry out expeditions with the purpose of establishing the facts of death, the discovery of the location of previously unknown burial places of soldiers, and the reburial of their remains with military honours. This is carried out independently for the soldiers of each of the armed forces involved in the war by nationality.
    • Members of our club have taken part in expeditions in the territories of Rostov, Volgograd and other regions of Russia. They have included expeditions organized by the governments of Germany and Italy. As a result of the activity of our club many people have now found out the final fate of their relatives who earlier were considered to be missing in action and unaccounted for. Our main source of financing results from the sale to private collections, museums, and exhibits, of items discovered during our expeditions focused upon the participants in the fighting during the period of 1941 - 1945, as well as voluntary donations from organizations and individuals.

  • If there are relatives in your family who went missing during the Second Word War in the South of Russia, and if you don't know when and where they may have disappeared, then we may possibly help you.
  • If you collect articles, documents, photographs or other items connected with the Army-participants in the Second World War, you can purchase what you are interested in from our collection. Our collection is formed from the articles found during the searching operations of our club and similar clubs in Russia, as well as by means of an exchange of information and finds from other historical organizations.
  • If you have questions for us or information that may be of interest to us we invite you to contact us.
  • Our club has access to many Russian archives closed to foreign study. We offer information to the military historian, to people engaged in developing military models, and to those simply interested in the Battle of Stalingrad. We offer copies of documents, photos, original in-depth information on people, military units, separate battles, districts, and other information. If you have questions please contact us.
